Our hearts are filled with gratitude and excitement as we write this holiday letter. It has been a wonderful year, and we have much to reflect on and be thankful for. Once again, we recently concluded our participation in Operation Gratitude right after Halloween. This non-profit organization was founded in 2003 for the purpose of collecting care packages, which are then sent to our servicemen and women overseas. Our office collected over 15 pounds of candy, which were then forwarded to the organization’s headquarters. (Of course, we also included a generous supply of toothbrushes and dental floss!)
Unfortunately, these numbers represent a decline from last year when we collected nearly double this amount. But we are not discouraged! Operation Gratitude is a worthy organization whose mission is more crucial than ever before. Even though the United States has begun to wind down its military operations in places like Afghanistan, over a million servicemen and women are still actively deployed in over 150 countries across the globe. More than ever, we will keep up our commitment to acknowledging their service and the many sacrifices they have made and will continue to make for our country. In 2014, we are committed to breaking previous records and collecting more candy than ever before!
We are also grateful to live and work in one of the most dynamic cities in America! Houston is home to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and over a dozen world class art museums are right down the road. We have no shortage of professional teams to cheer for, including the Astros, Texans, Rockets and the Dynamo. We’ve got it all here – quality academic institutions like Rice and the University of Houston (including our local Clear Lake campus), over 50,000 acres of green space, hundreds of fun and trendy shops and restaurants, and the Gulf Coast nearby with all its perks.
Houston is one of the best places to be, and we’re very proud to serve our community. Most of all, we are grateful for our patients who continue to put their trust in our expertise. We are truly thankful here at Cindy Flanagan, DDS. We love our jobs and we love coming in to work every morning. The greatest satisfaction we get comes from improving the quality of life of our patients, which we see every day in our patients’ smiles.
All of us at Cindy Flanagan, DDS wish you and your families the happiest of holiday cheer.
