Porcelain Veneers

Get on the fast track to a gleaming new smile

Have you ever admired movie stars or magazine models and wanted the same stunning white smile? Our professional cosmetic dentists can help you achieve a red-carpet smile with porcelain veneers.

These thin sheets of porcelain cover the front and sometimes the sides of your teeth, masking discoloration, crooked alignment, and other imperfections. The advanced technology of porcelain veneers is the perfect solution for those who don’t want to wait through years of corrective dental appliance use for a dazzling smile.

A brief history of porcelain veneers

Originally, tooth veneers were made by hand using feldspathic porcelain powder. Skilled technicians mixed this powder with distilled water, and applied the resulting paste to a model created from the patient’s teeth impressions.

But the world of cosmetic dentistry was transformed in the early 1990s with the introduction of Empress porcelain—an injection-molded material with improved strength and a superior look to feldspathic material. Empress porcelain is also easier to work with and provides a more natural-looking veneer.

Today’s veneers: Ultra-thin “instant” orthodontics

The most modern veneers are extremely thin and comfortable to wear, yet durable and long-lasting. Porcelain veneers are fitted over your existing teeth for an instant smile transformation. There is no special dental care required for veneers—simply brush and floss daily as usual, and visit our office regularly for professional care and maintenance.

If you’re tired of stained, crooked, misaligned, or otherwise poorly formed teeth, porcelain veneers could be the ideal solution for you!

Our procedure for porcelain veneers

The first step in creating your new smile is a comprehensive exam with meticulous attention to detail, to ensure that veneers are the best solution for your new smile. You’ll choose the shape, color, and style that best suits the look you want to achieve.

To help you decide whether you’d like porcelain veneers, get a consultation from Dr. Flanagan. During your consultation, you can also request a diagnostic wax-up, or have us create a preview of your new look with digital imaging.

Once we’ve decided on a strategy, you’ll have a set of long-lasting, stain-resistant veneers after just two visits. After your first appointment, you’ll leave our office with a set of temporary veneers that let you try our your new smile while your final custom veneers are being crafted at a professional lab.
