As a valued patient of Dr. Cindy Flanagan (and her talented team), you’re receiving some of the highest quality dental care in the Houston area. For over three decades, Dr. Flanagan has helped heal smiles in Houston since her graduation from the University of Texas Dental Branch or now known as the University of Texas School of Dentistry.
During this time helping patients, Dr. Flanagan goes beyond the skilled dentistry she delivers every day by staying up-to-date with the latest developments in technology and treatments that this exciting field has to offer both professionals and patients. Dr. Flanagan averages about 50 hours of continuing education each year, with well over 2000 hours already under her belt.
Dr. Flanagan earned the respected Fellowship Award with the Academy of General Dentistry in 1996, just six years after graduation, recognizing the completion of over 500 hours of continuing dental education and her successful passing of a written examination in topics in clinical dentistry. Her most recent postgraduate dental education has been completing five continuums at the esteemed LD Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. Other courses she has taken include the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry program at Louisiana State University. Dr. Flanagan is also a certified Invisalign® provider and currently attends a local Spears-affiliated dental study club.
In 1992, she was chosen by the Greater Houston Dental Society as the local nominee for the Texas Young Dentist Award. In 2004, she was selected by the Houston Academy of General Dentistry as their nominee for Texas Dentist of the Year.
Dr. Flanagan is passionate about dentistry and taking care of her patients. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Her peers have also chosen her as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. This organization recognizes ethics in dentistry, as well as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. She is the past president of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Flanagan believes that participating in organizations that emphasize excellence results in providing the best care available to her patients. She recently received her Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry, where she is a spokesperson, enabling her to relay dental health messages to the public. In that role, Dr. Flanagan has been quoted in such magazines as Glamour and Good Housekeeping.
Before moving to Houston for dental school, Dr. Flanagan lived in Austin, where she graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Biology. While earning her degree, she also spent one semester abroad in Avignon, France, learning the history of the area and how to cook, drink wine, and speak French. Dr. Flanagan grew up in Orange, Texas, and graduated from West Orange-Stark High School. She was recently active as the Chairwoman of the Texas Dental Association Meeting. She spent four years planning, scouting, and contracting over 60 speakers for the event, which was canceled due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns.
These days, her biggest personal interest is being with her only daughter, Meghan, who was born in 2003 after 18 years of marriage to her husband, Bill. Dr. Flanagan mostly volunteers her time these days to help with her daughter’s activities such as a summer swim team and helping out with high school band events.
When she’s not busy being a dentist, Dr. Flanagan says she loves being outdoors. She enjoys gardening, walking her dog, swimming, biking with her family, kayaking, hiking, and traveling for skiing excursions.
